When Lady Gaga and Tim Burton share the same stage, the world holds its breath, waiting for something strange, beautiful, and hauntingly mesmerizing. And that’s exactly what happened: the singer released The Dead Dance — the soundtrack for the new season of Wednesday — with the music video directed by none other than the master of dark aesthetics himself, Burton.

The video turned out exactly as we could have imagined: a gothic fairytale shot in black and white, where Gaga dances among dolls and zombie-like creatures. The atmosphere evokes Sleepy Hollow and Corpse Bride, but infused with Gaga’s signature expressiveness — bold, theatrical, and full of emotion.

Speculation around the video began back in July, when Gaga was spotted with Tim Burton on Mexico’s Island of the Dolls. At the time, fans could only guess, but the singer later confirmed: the new single was written specifically for Wednesday. Now the mystery has been revealed.

In addition to the song, the artist also landed a small acting role in the show. In the second season of Wednesday, Gaga appears as Rosalind Rothwood, a teacher at Nevermore Academy. Her character promises to be a standout, since it’s hard to imagine Gaga fading into the background — even in a minor role.
