Kate Winslet: a new act in the career of the great actress - now behind the camera

She captured millions of hearts as the heroine of Titanic, and now Kate Winslet is ready to take a new turn in her career — not just as an actress, but as a director.

She captured millions of hearts as the heroine of Titanic, and now Kate Winslet is ready to take a new turn in her career — not just as an actress, but as a director. In a recent interview with Porter Magazine (and ahead of the highly anticipated release of her first film Goodbye June), we see not only a film legend but also a woman boldly taking the camera into her own hands to tell her story.

Changes in life and in front of the camera

For the Porter cover shoot, the team chose an atmospheric rural field — an old barn, natural light, pastel tones. This choice is no coincidence: in Winslet’s image, there is a blend of calm and inner strength, as if she is no longer just an actress, but the guardian of her new story.

These shots perfectly reflect her inner world right now — mature, confident, yet still vulnerable.

Goodbye June: a film born from family

Her directorial debut is the film Goodbye June, in which she not only directs but also plays one of the lead roles. The script was written by her 21-year-old son, Joe Anders — making it a truly family project: mother and son creating a film about family, with complex dynamics, love, and honesty.

The story takes place in a Christmas setting, when four adult children gather around their mother, June, whose health suddenly deteriorates. Yet the mother is not simply a passive victim — she steers her own destiny “her way,” with sharp humor, wit, and warmth.

The film is scheduled to premiere in cinemas on December 12, with a release on Netflix on December 24.
