Natalie Portman is a strong and talented woman who isn't afraid of change. In the new issue of Porter magazine, the actress not only shared her impressions of life in Paris but also spoke candidly about raising her children after her divorce from choreographer Benjamin Millepied.

Divorce is always a difficult ordeal, especially when the well-being of children is at stake. Natalie is raising her 13-year-old son Aleph and 8-year-old daughter Amalia in Paris. And although the pain of separation is still fresh, the actress has found a way to see new opportunities:

"I just try to give my children as much warmth and attention as possible. Life in Paris helps me look at parenting from a different perspective."
According to Natalie, Parisian children learn from a young age to be polite and respectful. For instance, every child who comes to their home always greets the hostess and, before leaving, thanks her for the hospitality.

Paris has become a true source of inspiration for Portman. Even on cold and rainy days, the city thrives with cultural life. Exhibitions, concerts, literary evenings — there’s always a reason to step out and recharge.

"When I go back to the US, it feels strange that you can enter a store without greeting everyone. The French communication style is all about respect, and I really connect with that."
Natalie is convinced that, contrary to stereotypes, Parisians are not rude at all. On the contrary, if you’re willing to show kindness first, you will always be supported and met with the same attitude.

The actress did not shy away from discussing early fame either. At just 13, she became the star of Luc Besson’s film Léon — a role that brought her worldwide recognition but also drew a lot of criticism.

Today, many debate the inappropriate sexualization of her character. Natalie admits with a hint of sadness:

"I really feel that I was lucky. My career started in childhood, and it was an amazing experience. But I know that many kids in the film industry were not as protected."
The actress believes that it’s essential to take a mindful approach when working with children on set. It’s crucial to remember that young actors are, first and foremost, children, not miniature adults.

At 43, Natalie Portman is not just an actress but also a mother, a woman, a person who continues to learn to accept life as it is. After her divorce and moving to Paris, she found a new balance and rediscovered a sense of freedom.

"I’m learning to enjoy the moment and appreciate the little things. And I love that Paris gives me that opportunity."
In the pages of Porter magazine, Natalie poses in elegant outfits: a white lace dress on the cover, a black Stella McCartney bodysuit with a cream Loewe cardigan, and a beige Leset trench coat inside. Her style reflects inner harmony and a desire for something new.
