Demi Moore is a woman who isn’t afraid to be bold. At 62, she has received her first-ever Oscar nomination, graced the cover of TheWrap, and starred in one of the most provocative horror films in recent years – Substance. In her interview, the actress not only shared her experience filming difficult scenes but also reflected on how attitudes toward women in cinema have changed over the decades.

In Substance, Demi had to appear fully nude on camera – not in a polished, idealized way, but in her most vulnerable state.

"The script was very detailed, and it was clear that I wouldn’t be shown in the best light. I knew my flaws would be magnified – they filmed me in those vulnerable moments that we usually try to hide. Believe me, I love good lighting!" – she laughs.
For Moore, this experience was a challenge – not just physically, but psychologically as well. She admits that stepping out of her comfort zone was difficult, but these moments are what make acting truly raw and alive.

Demi also drew a comparison between her iconic film Striptease (1996) and modern filmmaking. In the 1990s, she was criticized and judged for playing a dancer, whereas in 2024, actress Mikey Madison has been praised for portraying a similar role in Anora.

"I look at Mikey in this role. I think about when I did Striptease, and I see how far we’ve come. She’s being praised for her courage, her boldness. Obviously, these are different films – I’m not comparing them. But [there’s no longer] the judgment and shame I experienced when playing a stripper."
This proves that times are changing, and women’s stories in cinema are no longer met with condemnation. Today, actresses can take on complex, daring roles without fearing public scrutiny.

Will Demi win her first Oscar? Time will tell. But one thing is certain: she isn’t afraid to push forward, break stereotypes, and be her authentic self. And that is already a victory.
