Julia Roberts: on Discipline, Gadgets, and the Key Rule for a Happy Family

She can make us smile with just one look on screen. But beyond Hollywood, Julia Roberts is not just a movie star—she is, above all, a mother of three.

She can make us smile with just one look on screen. But beyond Hollywood, Julia Roberts is not just a movie star—she is, above all, a mother of three.

On the cover of the first issue of the new 72 Magazine, led by former British Vogue editor Edward Enninful, the actress shared rare details about how she and her husband, cinematographer Daniel Moder, raise their children.

Julia doesn’t hide it: in their home, rules are not empty words. “We don’t dictate them like law, but they exist and don’t change. This is the boundary of your life—and it doesn’t move,” the star admitted.
According to her, this consistency helps children grow up with stability and confidence.

In a world where smartphones reach children almost before their first school notebook, Roberts took a different path.
“My children were among the last in their group to get phones,” the actress explains. She believes that the ability to live in the moment, rather than through a screen, gives children more freedom and real experiences.

One of the main parenting strategies of the Roberts-Moder family is parental unity. “It doesn’t work that you ask me and get one answer, then go to Dad for another. That’s not how it works,” says Julia.
She says this fosters a sense of security: children always know there is a reliable, loving partnership behind them.

Julia and Daniel have been together for over 20 years. They married in the summer of 2002 and have since raised three children: twins Hazel and Phinnaeus (20) and their youngest son, Henry (18).
Their family formula is simple: love + consistency + trust.

Behind her smile is not just a Hollywood star but a woman who has chosen to focus on real values.
In an era where everything changes too quickly, she reminds us that for children, what matters most are boundaries, love, and the certainty that their parents are always on their side.
