Meghan Markle for Harper's Bazaar: Boldness, Style, and a Life Without Perfection

The 44-year-old Duchess of Sussex is once again in the spotlight — this time not only as a member of the royal family but also as a style icon and businesswoman. The 44-year-old Duchess of Sussex is once again in the spotlight — this time not only as a member of the royal family but also as a style icon and businesswoman. Meghan graces the cover of the new issue of Harper’s Bazaar and gave an open interview sharing her thoughts on family, career, and motherhood.

In the photos, the Duchess poses in looks from Dior, Balenciaga, and The Row, and she tells the editorial team that personal growth and dedication to work have been important to her since childhood. “I was such a little nerd. My whole identity revolved around being smart,” Meghan admits. For her, it’s important to show others her commitment — whether at school lunches with other parents or at gatherings with friends who have recently become mothers.

Meghan’s approach to life and career contrasts sharply with contemporary trends that emphasize ease and moderation. “You need to do what works for you. I don’t like things that feel too calculated. Trying to be perfect isn’t very fun either,” she says. Mistakes, for the Duchess, are lessons: “You learn not to repeat them. If everything goes smoothly, you don’t learn anything. I can treat myself with the same kindness I show my children.”

Family is Meghan’s main source of inspiration and joy. She loves working from home, where her four-year-old daughter Lilibet can sit on her lap at any moment. “She comes onto my lap during meetings, and it’s a real luxury,” Markle shares. For her children, it’s important to show the value of courage and curiosity: “When you’re young, you’re more fearless. As you age, you lose some of that boldness.”

Meghan confesses that she loves versatility and freedom of choice. “I love that I can do both: play with my kids in the sandbox and sit front row at a concert. When you start making decisions based on others’ opinions, you lose your authenticity.”

At the center of her circle of trust is her husband, Prince Harry. “He loves me boldly, without limits, and sees things the media does not. No one in the world loves me more than he does,” Meghan says. Harry has awakened playfulness and creativity in her, which she carries into all areas of life, including business: “Even at work, we try to play, have fun, and be creative.”

The Duchess also spoke about attending the Balenciaga show at Paris Fashion Week, emphasizing that she went to support the new creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli: “I reached out to him and said, ‘I would love to come and support you.’ It was fun and genuinely enjoyable.”

Meghan Markle for Harper’s Bazaar tells the story of a woman who combines style, career, motherhood, and courage while staying true to herself. She teaches us to embrace mistakes, value boldness, and enjoy life in the moment, without chasing an illusory ideal.
