It’s time to break free from stereotypes and face reality: being single is no longer seen by women as a stigma or flaw.
It’s time to break free from stereotypes and face reality: being single is no longer seen by women as a stigma or flaw.
A new study conducted by the University of Toronto has shown that modern single women defy societal expectations and live their lives to the fullest, finding happiness in unexpected places.
Once, being single was viewed as a transitional state that needed correction. Generations of women were raised to believe that the key milestones in life were marriage and motherhood. But now, the winds of change are blowing stronger. Women prefer to prioritize themselves and their interests, realizing that their happiness doesn’t depend on a partner. The study, published in PsychologyToday, shows that on every question asked, female participants demonstrated greater satisfaction with their lives compared to men.
Long-standing jokes about “cat ladies” and single women aging with only pets for company can be left in the past. The study data tells a different story: single women are content with their status and don’t rush to find a partner at any cost. They are satisfied with their sex lives and happy with life in general. A paradox? More like a long-awaited breakthrough in a society where women’s happiness is no longer confined to traditional roles.
Interestingly, in traditional heterosexual relationships, women often take on most household responsibilities and duties, making these relationships less appealing to them. The study notes that such roles often overshadow their desire for personal pleasure and interests.
Today’s women are successful and self-sufficient. When comparing incomes, researchers concluded that as women’s income levels draw closer to those of men, the need to marry for financial stability decreases. In this context, researchers note that men often gain more from forming a partnership than women do.
This study is yet another sign that female independence is gaining strength. Women finally feel secure in being single and no longer see it as something incomplete. Happiness is a choice, and singleness becomes a state where one can live fully, without seeking excuses or justifying it to society.
