Main Signs of Healthy Bread

If you're not planning to eat it within a few days, slice and freeze it. This preserves freshness without the need for preservatives.

Bread is an essential part of many people's diets. In supermarkets, it's sold in countless variations, making it difficult to choose the right one.

Nutritionists have shared key signs of a healthy product to look for:

Made with 100% whole grain. Whole grain products contain essential nutrients such as B vitamins and fiber.

Contains at least 3g of protein per slice, and some of the most filling varieties have 5g. This is due to the whole grains in the bread.

At least 2g of fiber per slice. Dietary fiber supports smooth and effective digestion and helps prevent diarrhea. We need fiber from plants, as it aids digestion, keeps us full, and helps regulate blood sugar and cholesterol levels.

Moderate sodium content (around 160 mg or less). Too much salt can lead to high blood pressure and dehydration over time.

Sprouted grains among the ingredients. This type of bread has a lower glycemic index and is suitable for those sensitive to gluten.

Simple ingredient list with recognizable additives.

Low sugar content: 5g or less per slice.

How to Store Healthy Bread

To keep bread fresh and nutritious longer, store it in a cloth bag or bread box in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. If you're not planning to eat it within a few days, slice and freeze it. This preserves freshness without the need for preservatives.
